这本书讲述了鸟类迁徙的影响因素，调控（control）在这里指内在机理、环境刺激和生理适应。作者是研究鸟类迁徙现象和内在调控机制的专家。google book search提供这本书部分的全文预览。

本书是根据1986年在渥太华召开的研讨会：Forest Bird Communities; Structure and Attributs的内容编写的，收集了世界各地关于鸟类地理和群落研究的一些方法和研究成果。翻译一下目录，国家图书馆借阅有收藏。

另一本是美国奥杜邦协会的双月刊杂志Bird-Lore（鸟类知识），这本杂志一期260多页，23张照片插图，16开，像本小书，广告图片较大，不像上一本的小豆腐块，除了上面那本书的广告，还多了许多奥杜邦协会相关的活动和纪念品，比如奥杜邦的画的复制品。内容上：

1. 有主编絮语，是奥杜邦的头写的

2. 有鸟类之外动物的保育文章，我看到了一篇写海狮的

3. 散文，很像《观察》的心随鸟动栏目，分享与野鸟相遇相处的感受

4. 鸟类行文记录的文章，好像《观察》里的是写人去了哪儿看见鸟干什么，这个是写鸟去了哪儿，干什么

5. 其他国家的鸟，讲如何去发现一种鸟以及这种鸟有哪些特别之处，侧重发现和发现了什么，不是走马观花的记录。

6. 栏目The Director Reports to You：指导观鸟的栏目，对近期某地的情况进行介绍，比如夏天到了，田纳西州会有哪些变化，在那里的什么地方容易看到什么，要注意什么，那里有谁在什么地方关注着什么鸟，一般都是6、7页质量很高的文章，按主题分成段落码在一起。

7. 物种的知识，行为的、生态的，各种知识，一般1-2篇，质量很高

8. 人物介绍，介绍人物的相关研究领域和贡献 

9. 其他的如书讯、鸟讯也都有相关栏目。

今天找来两本1938-1939年的鸟类杂志：英国皇家鸟类学会（那时的名字是：Royal Society for the Protection of Bird）的季刊Bird Notes & News

这本小书一样的杂志一期32页，20x24cm，黑白印刷，但是照片的质量非常好，有些照片拍摄的难度很大。两栏的排版（很像《中国鸟类观察》），封二封三和一整个内页有广告，广告多是书的，还有望远镜、明信片、日历、旅游、巢箱和庭院喂食器等。文章的内容方面涉及与鸟相关的方方面面。

1.环境教育、鸟类保育相关的文章；

2. 文艺类的，比如通过纪念币上的鹪鹩讲述英国的历史故事，从而介绍出鹪鹩的习性和在文化上的含义（想必这样的文章有着更广泛的受众）；

3.保育类的文章，如介绍英国的鸟类庇护所和家庭救助的方法；

4.经济鸟类栏目：介绍与鸟类保护和观鸟相关的产业；

5. Notes栏目：介绍各地与鸟类保护和观鸟相关的活动，以及重要的野外记录，相当于《观察》的会讯和特色鸟讯；

6. 书讯栏目：介绍各种与鸟相关的书，每期都有很多；

7. 编读往来：主要是回答读者的问题（各种问题涉及鸟儿和其他动物的生老病死），还有些是读者对刊物文章的看法。
